How to go

Map of Mumbai, Pune, and Ahmednagar

This book focuses on the most common method of reaching Ahmednagar - travel by air to Mumbai and then by car, bus, plane, or railway to Pune and Ahmednagar. A second route is also possible through Delhi & Agra in the north (near the Taj Mahal and other tourist attractions) and then by plane to Aurangabad or railway to Ahmednagar.

Travelers should be prepared for possible delays in reaching Ahmednagar from Delhi due to airline scheduling problems or cancellations. Those with limited time to spend in India would be advised to come to Ahmednagar via Mumbai.

Whichever route you pick, you may want to schedule your trip so that you do any sightseeing before you arrive in Ahmednagar. On several occasions Meher Baba directed His followers to go home directly after having had His darshan. One advantage of this approach is that you can return from your journey with the experiences of Meherabad and Meherazad fresh in your mind (and heart).

As soon as you make your plans, also make your airline reservations. Peak season flights (Christmas, summer holidays) are often reserved for many months in advance.
